AFRICAN DESK COMPLETES SUCCESSFUL MISSION IN CAIRO, EGYPT

SENIOR Officials from the African Desk Group (ADG) have concluded a 5-day working tour of the Egyptian Capital, Cairo for business engagements with key continental leading organisations.

The ADG delegation which was led by the Executive Chairman Mr Patient Sayiba Tambwe toured the ancient city between March 12 and 16.

Other Officials in the entourage included Prof Barnabe Kikaya Bin Karubi (Chief Executive Officer), Prof Chris Landsberg (Senior Advisor) and Mr Faraja Mgwabati (Director).

During a five-day visit, the team had an opportunity to engage with senior officials including the Executive Vice President of the Import-Export Bank (Afrexim Bank), Ms Kanayo Awani.

Discussion with Madam Kanayo and other banks officials dwelt on possible cooperation in various areas related to trade facilitation, which is one of the main pillars of ADG vision and mission.

The team also was able to attend the African Investment Day forum which was organized by the GIT-Zone International. ADG Executive Chair Mr Sayiba Tambwe was accorded an opportunity to be one of the panelists.

During the visit to the Egyptian Business Association the two organisations agreed to sign an MOU of cooperation to cement the relationship.

The team also had an opportunity to visit and engage with senior officials of the Orascom Construction Company, one of Africa’s leading construction and infrastructure Development Company.

The mission was concluded with the visit to the American University of Cairo Business School, Economics department.

The two sides had good discussions related to trade facilitation, transport & logistics as well as infrastructure development on the continent.
